FEBRUARY 2018  NEI General Contracting and JANEY Construction are proudly partnering on Phase 1A of the redevelopment of Whittier Street Apartments site in Roxbury. The Whittier Choice Neighborhood initiative is a collaboration between the Boston Housing Authority, POAH, and the Madison Park Development Corporation to create a healthier, more vibrant environment for the community. The initiative is one of the last in the Boston area to be made possible by funding from The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

NEI and JANEY have joined forces to combine experience, resources, capacity, and commitment to the community to provide a new standard of product delivery and process excellence for The Whittier Choice Neighborhood project. The partnership will also allow NEI and JANEY to fully embrace POAH’s deep commitment to diversity and the community.

Originally built in the early 1950s, Whittier is currently home to 200 public housing families. Phase 1A of the redevelopment will involve the demolition and removal of the existing structures to make way for the new construction of 70 rental units and 16 townhomes within 3 buildings designed by The Architectural Team. The plan for the mixed-income, mixed-use development also includes approximately 16,000 SF of commercial recreational space and the creation of safer streets.
